Digicel Signs on as Naming Rights
Sponsor fro 2014

The Vanuatu Golf Open Committee is pleased to announce that following recent negotiations, Digicel will be the VGO Naming Rights sponsor for 2014.
Chairman Bryan Death said that the Vanuatu Golf Open was one of the most significant international sporting events to take place in Vanuatu.
The golfing event has been running for over 30 years and draws a full field of Professionals, Amateur Men and Ladies each year, totalling 180.
In announcing the new sponsorship,  the Chairman paid tribute to the past support of Tusker as Naming Rights sponsor for many years and confirmed that Tusker would again support the event in 2014 as a major corporate sponsor.
The Chairman thanked Digicel for their support for the event and also announced that Digicel would have first right of refusal to renew their sponsorship of the VGO in 2015
The Chairman commented that without such excellent support it was difficult to stage the event and to commit the AUD$50,000 prize money to the professionals who attend from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Caledonia. The Tournament is run under the banner of the NSW PGA and as such becomes an order of merit event for the professionals attending. It also affords up and coming professionals the chance to play in a fully fledged 4 round championship event.
Some notables that have played in this event include recent winner on the USPGA circuit Steve Bowditch and One Asia tour players Scott Strange, Jason Norris, Jason King, Adam, Bland, Glen Joyner and  2012 Winner Nick Gillespie. Three times winner of the VGO Brad McIntosh also plays on the Asian tour and returns to Port Vila Each year for this event.
Bryan commented that the support from local corporate sponsors over the years had been sensational and he indicated that with the Naming Rights Sponsorship now firmed up they would proceed to convey this information to all previous years’ sponsors with a view to finalising all sponsorship arrangements in the coming weeks.
